WHY PROTECT THE NAMES? Each year the SILV staff put countless hours into the planning and execution of the annual Supras Invade Las Vegas event to ensure that this world class event continues to remain one of the premiere car club events in the world. Many companies have taken advantage of the marketing potential of this event and have paid sponsorship fees to be officially affiliated with this event. If we allowed everyone to promote their company using the Supras Invade Las Vegas or SILV servicemarks there would be no incentive for companies to sign on as an advertising sponsor. A lack of sponsorship income would force us to terminate this annual Supra tradition. The continued viability of this event depends on the exclusivity of the use of the Supras Invade Las Vegas and SILV marks. The protection afforded through the use of the Supras Invade Las Vegas and SILV servicemarks allows us to prosecute those parties that use these marks for commercial purposes or in a confusing manner that may indicate association or sponsorship to the fullest extent of the law. |
