In a change of venues from the past two years we made a longer drive out to Valley of Fire State Park. Our drive this year took us past the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign right on Las Vegas Blvd. Once we got past the construction and into the Lake Mead Recreation area the scenery was quite different than what we typically see in Las Vegas. Skirting Lake Mead we traveled north and east to Valley of Fire. The rock formations there make Red Rock Canyon look bland as the rocks surrounded us along the scenic drive.
