I must apologize. We promised you more Supras than you can shake a stick at and after nearly passing out from exhaustion I proved that you can in fact shake a stick at nearly 160 Supras. It was a bit iffy towards the end but thanks to the support of some great people I was able to regain enough energy to finish the task. It is a good thing those last couple dozen Supras didn't come out of the parking garage or I might have at least sprained something.
Each year the quality and calibur of Supras increases and this year was no different. I heard there were only a couple of MkIIs that were still running their original powerplant. There were so many 7M-GTE conversions and even one 1JZ-GTE and one Lexus V8 conversion in the mix. The MkIIIs were impressive too with more and more 1JZ-GTE conversions showing up - and even the occasional 2JZ-GTE conversion. With the MkIVs the trend seems to be back to the Twin Turbo configuration. Just a few years ago it seemed like every MkIV had a big single and now more and more are doing the big twins.
The Show-and-Shine is always the best place to check out these cars up close so you can appreciate the details and the Supras in the show did not dissappoint.
Cedric shipped his jaw-dropping MkIV in from Hawaii for this years event and JoJo unveiled his reworked and recolored jade 98 - now a custom orange. Bill brought his electric blue custom wide-body out to play again but at the end of the day Ken Henderson walked away with his first ever Show-and-Shine award - an award that I will go on record as saying he has deserved for many years now.
The MkIII classes are getting tighter and tighter each year as more people are starting to pull out all of the stops with their cars. I just wish I had more time to really check out each car to get more ideas for my own Supra.
This year marks the second time the annual Supras Invade Las Vegas event has featured all four generations. To date we have had Supras from nearly all of the years the Supra was in production and imported to North America.
