"It certainly involves more Supras than we've ever seen in one place before, and they range from the earliest, now approaching classic status, to the latest, becoming more and more like ballistic missles." Japanese Performance Magazine February 2005
Our 12th annual Supras Invade Las Vegas event may not have been the biggest (we were off just 5 Supras from our record – and I counted 6 Supras parked outside of the official Show-and-Shine area) but it was by far our best event to date.
Dyno Challenge
SILV08 kicked off with a BANG! Not just one, but TWO Supras maxed out the rollers at Silver State Motorsports. Some of you will remember that a few years ago the rollers were topped out at 1200whp. Since then SSMS has upgraded their dyno. SW, our second participant to dyno in the High Roller Series hit the new cap. A few Supras later Ryan Woon also bounced off the max. Our fourth annual Supra Poker Tournament was a lot of fun. 24 people from all over the world sat down at two tables fighting for the top spot. When the smoke cleared Jeff Church stood alone. For more information please visit the Poker Tournament pageShow-and-Shine
On our second day we tried to set a new record for the number of Supras parked in a single location at our Show-and-Shine. The MkIVs were out in force with nearly 100 of the finest specimens gleaming like jewels in the desert sun. We were just 5 Supras short of our record – but with the 6 Supras that were parked just outside of the Show-and-Shine lot I will claim that the record was in fact set. The quality of the MkIIIs could not be ignored as well this year and we had a number of incredible MkIIs. We also had a non-Supra section for the first time ever. On the third day we celebrated the fact that the Supra is an awesome Grand Touring car. Our Scenic Drive this year took us to a new destination where we stopped for lunch. Supras took over the town in Goodsprings Nevada as we grilled steaks and fed 90 hungry Supra owners and enthusiasts. For more information please visit the Scenic Drive pageDrag Showdown
We finished off the weekend with the Drag Showdown. This year we had some of the best Supra drag racing that we had seen in Vegas in a LONG time. There were numerous broken Supras but also several 8-second passes. Even the rains held off long enough for us to get through our eliminations – too bad it didn’t hold off long enough to allow us to give out our awards. Thanks again to our sponsors listed below for supporting this annual Supra tradition… and of course to those Supra owners and enthusiasts that came out to SILV08 and made this year our best event ever!
