This was probably the single activity that had me the most worried this year. We've done Scenic Drives in the past but we had never had to prepare our own food for lunch.

Chris Dickens scouted the location and negotiated with the saloon. I did not know what to expect.

Before SILV08 began, Chris J and I made the run out to check out the saloon. The route was mostly perfect. A little boring as it did not have the nice curves that we’ve become used to at our other venues, but the road was SMOOTH! Even better than the highway that was paralleling the drive for most of the route.

We arrived at the Saloon to find a few locals chatting at the bar. I went out back to check out the grills. I knew the shiny gas grills were off limits but was told there were four charcoal grills available. Grilling 90 steaks on four grills was going to be interesting. Imagine my shock to find just one lone charcoal grill. A quick call to the coordinator and we were back in business.

We still didn’t know how well grilling 90 steaks was going to go.

On the day of the drive, Jack from SupraSport.com and Jake headed out to the saloon early to get the grills fired up and ready. Chris J and I headed out to pick up the sides and the drinks.

Local Chris led the drive and made plenty of stops to let the group catch up. This also allowed me to get back out in front of the group and get to the saloon to set up.

I arrived at the saloon to find Jack and Jake grilling up a storm. They had 7 or 8 of the gas grills going. We all frantically worked to get the rest of the food set up and ready to go.

Like a stampeding heard of buffalo across the desert plains, in came so many Supras. Supras lined the parking lot and spilled out on the sides of the main road through town.

We filed hungry Supra people through and within a very short time everything was gone.

This was the end of the Scenic Drive for 2008 and slowly the town returned to normal as the Supras headed back to the bright lights of Las Vegas.

A big thanks to Chris D for planning such an amazing Scenic Drive. Chris found the saloon, picked the route, found a place to get the sides, lined up a volunteer to lead the drive and unfortunately was not able to make the trip. Hey Chris – next time they ask you how important that vacation is… F’ing LIE MF’er!
I want to give a huge thanks to Jack and Jake for grilling up 90 steaks. 90 STEAKS! WOW!
Special thanks to Aaron S for being my bouncer. Rockin’ job dude!
Thanks also to Chris (Vegas local) for leading our drive.
As always… thanks to Chris for snapping pics.
