The number 13 is regarded as a mystical number throughout the world. Some cultures believe it's lucky. Others have an indelible fear of it. We on the SILV team fought such a notion but now are starting to believe that there may indeed be something to this.

After 12 incredible SILV events, culminating with SILV08 as our biggest and best event to date - drawing more than 200 Supras from across the country to the desert southwest, not one but two Supras maxing out the rollers at over 1500whp, and our most exciting drag racing program ever - the current economic climate is pushing us to skip unlucky number 13.

We've placed a few calls and are finding that the Supra community isn't immune to these economic effects. We are affected just as much as everyone else. We have already chatted with a few of the past SILV sponsors and they are not sure how they will be able to support this year's event. As SILV operates without profit, a loss of any money means a scaling back of plans (both in sustaining the level of operations we've all come to enjoy and maintaining a cutting edge approach of keeping things fresh each year). How far back would SILV have to regress? And even at a minimalist level, how many participants can we expect to maintain?

So, with the combination of a near-certain drop in attendance and a guaranteed slashing of our operating budget, a difficult decision has been made; Supras Invade Las Vegas will go on hiatus for 2009 with the plan to bring back this annual Supra tradition when the economy, our membership and our sponsors have all recovered.

The entire SILV team would like to thank everyone that has supported this great event over the past 12 years, including our sponsors that have given generously to help fund the event, our participants, and our spectators. Without the support of our community, we wouldn't have been able to survive this long.

We wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see you all in the future.
